Resilient Inspection Experts

We in Louisiana are facing an ongoing insurance crisis, affecting a variety of policy types. It’s quite the challenge as premium rates are shooting through the roof, and getting a reliable policy has become difficult to obtain for many good, hardworking people.

Since the 2007 Legislative Session, admitted insurance carriers in Louisiana have been required to offer premium discounts for properties’ compliance with the building code and for installation of mitigation measures that reduce wind-related losses.

Your home may already have many of these qualifying construction techniques, which include roof bracing, secondary water barriers, opening protection, and more.  Discounts will be applied once Fortified Gulf Coast performs a Louisiana Hurricane Loss Mitigation Survey and submits to your insurer.

What is a Resilient Inspection Survey?

A wind mitigation survey is an assessment of your home's ability to withstand strong winds, typically during hurricanes. The survey helps insurance companies determine your home's vulnerability and adjust your homeowners insurance premiums accordingly.

What we examine:

  • Roof characteristics: This is the main focus, analyzing aspects like roof type, shingle quality, underlayment presence, and how the roof is attached to the house.

  • Openings: Inspectors check windows, doors, and garage doors for wind-resistant features like impact-resistant glass, shutters or even plywood.

  • Other features: Additional elements like secondary water barriers, reinforced fascia boards, and roof bracing are also examined.

Benefits:

  • Potential for lower insurance premiums: Homes with strong wind-resistant features may qualify for significant discounts on your homeowners insurance.

  • Increased peace of mind: Knowing your home's strengths and weaknesses in terms of wind resistance can provide valuable insights for preparedness and potential.
